Altar Server
The primary role of the altar server is to assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. This is done through specific actions and by setting an example to the congregation by active participation in the liturgy (hymns, responses, etc.), by ‘looking alert’ and by sitting or standing at the appropriate time. Open to children who have already received First Holy Communion up to and including adults.
Usher/ Greeter
The primary role of an Usher in the Church is the Ministry of Hospitality. Women and men who are willing to serve the community by being present before, during and after each liturgy. Duties of Ministers of Hospitality include: seating of members of the assembly, attending the comfort of those gathered for worship, facilitating an orderly flow of the communion procession, collecting the monetary gifts of the faithful, procuring those who will present the gifts, and the distribution of the weekly bulletin.
Liturgical Art & Environment
People who are responsible for the overall environment of our parish worship space, especially for the preparation of our worship space for the liturgical seasons. Volunteers are needed and welcomed to help aid in the decorating of our parish sites. People who are willing to offer their gifts and talents (e.g. sewing, flower arranging, decorating, etc.)
Eucharistic Minister
The Role of Eucharistic Minister seems simple enough: to minister the Body and Blood of Christ to the assembled faithful. In reality, the role of each Eucharistic is to draw faith from the people of God, to become more and more like the Body and Blood of Christ. Eucharistic Ministers are called not only to minister the Body and Blood of Christ, but also to take on Christ’s likeness. The ministers accomplish this by strengthening their faith from within and sharing it with the faithful at communion. Must be at least 16 years of age.
Sacristan
Any public event or celebration requires a lot of “behind the scenes” activity. This liturgy of our parish requires a lot of “behind the scenes” organization. The sacristans are responsible for the preparation and care of materials used in our liturgy, as well as being the liaison between other ministries and the parish priest.
Money Counting
The members of this ministry count the weekend collection after Sunday Mass. Training is provided.
Lector
Youth, women, and men who proclaim the Word of God at Eucharistic and liturgical celebrations. This ministry is open to those who have a good proclamation skills and can devote themselves to time each week preparing to proclaim the word. Training and guide books are provided. The Lector also reads the general intercessions along with any announcements of the day.
Choir Member/ Cantor
Sings at liturgy approximately once each week and helps aid the assembly in prayerful song. A choir member should possess a willingness to share their gift of music with the assembly.
Marriage Formation Ministry
Open to all married couples of the parish. This ministry involves meeting with engaged couples to prepare them for receiving the Sacrament of Marriage. It is done on a one to one couple basis for a total of 6 hours per couple. Training will be provided.
